Kick-off delayed in Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest after rain storms hit London

Kick-off in Arsenal's Carabao Cup third round tie with Nottingham Forest has been delayed by 15 minutes after a day of heavy rain caused travel chaos around London.

Arsenal tweeted: "Kick-off has been delayed. Tonight's match against Nottingham Forest will now begin at 8pm - this is due to travel issues affecting supporters."

The capital has been hit by what is reported to be a month's rain in a day causing issues across London's transport system. Meanwhile there are significant delays on the A1 that have delayed many of the 8,500 Forest fans making their way down from the east Midlands.

An incident earlier in the day caused delays at Finsbury Park whilst parts of Liverpool Street Station have also been closed due to the weather.

Just 15 minutes before the scheduled 7:45pm kick-off time the sizeable section of the Emirates Stadium reserved for visiting Forest supporters was less than half full after an incident on the A1.

Gunners head coach Unai Emery had made 11 changes from the side that had beaten Aston Villa 3-2 on Sunday, handing starts to Mesut Ozil and Lucas Torreira alongside youngsters including Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli and Reiss Nelson.

Kieran Tierney is in line to make his debut after his £25million summer move from Celtic whilst Rob Holding will feature for the first time since December. Hector Bellerin, who suffered a similar injury in January, has been named on the substitutes bench.
