BREAKING: Juniors league and cup fixtures axed after SFA extend football suspension

The West Region Junior FA today confirmed that the league and cup season has been cancelled amid the coronavirus lockdown - marking the end of an era for Scottish football.

An email confirming the end of the campaign was sent to clubs today, less than 24 hours after the SFA revealed no football would be played until June 10 at the earliest.

It is understood that West Region have still to confirm whether the season will be considered null and void, or current standings will be final placings.

The news marks the end of the historic Scottish juniors with the new tier six proposals for a West of Scotland League moving closer.

Lanarkshire Live Sport  understands that all teams from  the Lanarkshire area  have put forward their case to be involved in the set-up, joining nearly 70 clubs.

The proposals will be set up in a conference style with clubs able to opt in to playing in the Scottish Junior Cup, while still leaving the West Region Ranks behind.
