BREAKING: Jim Duffy commits his future to Dumbarton FC with new one-year deal

Dumbarton manager Jim Duffy has revealed that committing his future to the club was an easy decision.

As reported in the Lennox earlier this year, Duffy was happy to sign a new deal with the Castle Road side - with his previous contract expiring in May.

Last month the 61-year-old suffered a health scare after having a heart attack, but with him now firmly on the road to recovery he admitted that he can't wait to get back on the training pitch.

Speaking to the Lennox this afternoon, he said: "You have to live your life to as full a level as you can, and for me that includes football.

"The club treated me very well, but I have to be good enough and confident enough to do the business.

"We discussed it before lockdown where I told the chairman I would be happy to stay, and then had a Zoom call this week where I agreed to the deal.

"I have enjoyed the job, and that made it an easy decision.

"I've really enjoyed my time at Dumbarton, and strangely I've still not yet had a full season at the club despite taking the job in October 2018.

"Injuries and then building a squad almost from scratch gave me a lot of work to do in my first full season, but I'm ready for the challenge ahead."

Sons chairman John Steele added: "Jim has done an excellent job in his time with us so far and it was a no-brainer to ask him to agree a new deal.

"Anybody who knows Jim knows what a passion he has for the game, and that shines through to his players.

"We will back him to the fullest extent during what is a truncated 2020/21 season and we know we can rely on our supporters to do the same."
