Indian Red Boy dead: Rapper shot and killed while filming an Instagram live

Rapper Indian Red Boy has died at the age of 21.

The music star - real name Zerail Dijon Rivera - was shot in the head three times as he sat behind the wheel of his car in the city of Hawthorne in California.

He was taking part in an Instagram live with social media personality Kapone when shots were heard in the footage.

All Hop Hop report that Indian Red Boy was heard saying “get help” before slumping in his seat after the shots were fired.

The Sun report that Los Angeles County Fire Department said the rapper was already dead when they arrived at the crime scene.

Reports say the attack occurred in the 14100 block of Chadron Avenue in Hawthorne at 4pm on Thursday.

Hawthorne police Lt. Ti Goetz told Daily Breeze that Indian Red Boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds and that the suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

“It appears to have been a walk-up shooting and he appears to have been targeted,” Goetz shared.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect who is responsible for the shooting and are reviewing video systems in the area.

There are unconfirmed reports the rapper was shot after a Nipsey Hussle tribute mural was defaced with paint.

The video of the disturbing shooting has been circulating online and appears to show the up and coming star taking part in the Instagram clip before being killed.

Social media users who watched the clip shared on the disturbing scenes on Twitter.

One shocked fan penned: "No cap that video of Indian red boy getting killed on live crazy."

A second echoed: "That Indian Red Boy video is disturbing. I hate that i peeped it."

A third and fourth echoed: "I thought I was desensitized to death but that Indian red boy video is traumatizing and I wish I never watched it. One minute he was smiling, the next he was gasping for air and begging for help. I'm not okay!" and "The Indian red boy video is traumatizing."

Kapone - known as kapaalxt8 on Instagram - posted a tribute to Indian Red Boy on Instagram.

He posted a video of Indian Red Boy dancing and wrote: "LLINDIANREDD. I LOVE YOU GANKG”
