Hednesford deaths: Man and woman's bodies found in home as police investigating

Police are investigating after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a house in Staffordshire today.

They say they are treating the deaths at the Hednesford, Staffordshire, home as "unexplained".

Officers made the grim discovery at a detached property in a quiet residential street, Birmingham Live reports.

Paramedics confirmed they were found dead at the scene.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We are currently at an address in Hill Street, Hednesford after the bodies of a man and a woman were found.

“The deaths are being treated as unexplained at this time and detectives are on scene to establish the circumstances.”

One neighbour said he only heard what had happened “about half an hour ago, when my brother told me”.

He said he didn’t know the couple but said it was unusual to see police in the street, adding: “I’ve lived here all my life and you occasionally see ambulances when old people have passed on their sleep.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it received a call from Staffordshire Police to an incident at the property at 10.29am today.

A spokesman for the service said: “On arrival, crews discovered two patients, a man and a woman.

“Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save either of them and they were both confirmed dead at the scene.”
