BREAKING: Health board say no further confirmed coronavirus deaths in Dumfries and Galloway in past week

The health board says there have been no further deaths as a result of the coronavirus in the past seven days.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway's weekly update shows the region's death toll remains at 44.

The number of people who have recovered from coronavirus after being treated in the region's hospitals has risen to 86, up seven from last week.

The healthboard's figures are based on the number of people who have died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus.

Stats from the National Records of Scotland are compiled using the number of cases where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

By their method, the pandemic had claimed 3,546 lives by Sunday, 47 in Dumfries and Galloway - one more than the previous week.

The region has a death rate of 3.2 per 10,000 people, meaning NHS Dumfries and Galloway has the joint lowest rate among mainland Scotland’s healthboards.
