Harry Maguire missed Leicester City training on Monday after phoning in sick.
The England defender spoke to the club's team doctor on Monday morning and it was agreed that he would be best served remaining at home, rather than reporting to the club's Belvoir Drive Training Ground.
Leicester had a number of players feeling under the weather towards the end of last week, including Maguire.
However, he insisted on featuring for the Foxes in their 2-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday, playing the full 90 minutes.
"He’s taken part in everything we have wanted to do and he was sick yesterday and we had a number of players that were sick yesterday after we came back from our trip," confirmed Rodgers post-game.
“And in these circumstances it can be very easy for him not to play, but he wanted to be with the squad."

Monday's session is the first that Maguire has missed since reporting back for pre-season following an extended break after his UEFA Nations League exploits with the Three Lions.
Maguire continues to be linked with a big-money transfer to Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to add him to his defensive ranks at Old Trafford.
Leicester rejected two offers for Maguire earlier in the summer, and no-one has come close to meeting the club's valuation of the centre-back, who joined from Hull City in a £17million deal two years ago. There remain no issues between he and Leicester staff over the situation.
After the win over the Potters, Brendan Rodgers declared himself “relaxed’ over the continued speculation and lauded Maguire for how he has conducted himself during the summer saga.

“He’s been brilliant since the first day of pre-season,” said Rodgers.
“There’s a lot of speculation around Harry but he’s just got on with it. Like I’ve always said, we’re all pretty relaxed with it.
“We’re looking to prepare the whole team and squad and Harry’s a part of that. He was excellent today, he’s working very hard.
“There’s no discussion. I know you guys are looking for updates but there’s no change from the other night. They are nowhere near to meeting the valuation of the club. Harry is relaxed about it, we are, he’s been absolutely brilliant.
“I really have to add, because I have been in this situation a number of times where it can be very, very difficult for players.
“But he is a special guy. You see him on the pitch, but off the pitch he’s been very professional. The supporters need to know how he has been."
When asked what would happen if an acceptable bid was forthcoming in the coming days, Rodgers added: “It’s all about ifs, but we haven’t had that.”
Maguire has featured in all three of Leicester's friendlies since returning.
Leicester are holding out for a world record fee for the defender, in excess of the £75million Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk.
