Harry Maguire left out of Leicester squad due to transfer interest amid Man Utd links

Harry Maguire has been left out of Leicester's pre-season friendly squad to face Atlanta United due to the transfer insecurity.

Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for the centre-back with one week of the transfer window remaining.

Maguire held talks with Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers on Thursday and it was agreed that Maguire should not take part in the friendly with Atlanta.

The Telegraph claim that the decision was made because the England defender was not in the right frame of mind to play in a match.

Leicester are said to believe that it was the best decision for both the club and the player if he was not involved in the game.

United have so far got nowhere near Leicester's valuation for Maguire as they look to seal a summer transfer.

Leicester are believed to want a deal that will total £90million once add-ons are met.

Earlier on Thursday, Rodgers told the media that there had been no formal talks between Maguire and United as the fee had not been met.

"As of this day, the valuation for Harry hasn’t been met that would trigger any communication with the player and the other club. There’s no change," Rodgers told BBC Leicester Sport.

"For me, Top, John Rudkin [director of football] and Susan Whelan [chief executive] are doing a great job in relation to that.

"The club hasn’t changed its stance in terms of the valuation for the player."
