Breaking: Hamilton lane taped off as police investigate alleged sexual assault

Police in Hamilton are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the Burnbank area of the town on Friday morning.

Locals reported swarms of officers at a lane on Pollock Avenue, leading to Wellhall Road, shortly after 9.20am on January 21.

It is understood the area was taped off until after lunchtime whilst police carried out their duties.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the report and told Lanarkshire Live: "Officers received report of an alleged sexual assault of a woman in the Pollock Avenue area of Hamilton around 9.20am on Friday, January 21.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

Anyone with information in relation to the incident should contact police on 101. Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
