Full list of 16 Office Outlet stores closing in April - revealed

A number of jobs have been placed on the line at stationary chain Office Outlet as part of immediate plans to axe 16 branches.

The company - which formerly traded as US brand Staples - is to close 16 stores in April, resulting in 161 job losses.

Office Outlet went into administration in March when it announced it was on the search for a new owner to manage its 90 UK stores.

At the time, the company revealed it was struggling, putting 1,200 jobs on the line.

Joint administrator at Deloitte Richard Hawes said: "The company has recently experienced a reduction in credit from key suppliers, given the economic outlook which has severely impacted the financial position of the company."

But he went on to say he was hopeful that a buyer could be found and that the business would carry on trading "with that in mind".

However, in devastating news to workers, the company has now announced its first wave of store closures.

Office Outlet first made headlines in 2016 after taking over more than 100 Staples branches. At the time, new owner Hilco Capital, rebranded all remaining stores to 'Office Outlet'.

However, the retailer has no connection to the online-only business which still trades under the Staples UK title.
