Five people taken to hospital following crash on Lanarkshire road

Five people were rushed to hospital following a crash on a Lanarkshire road yesterday afternoon.

At least 12 emergency vehicles raced to the scene on the A726 near Chapelton at around 3.25pm.

Police were forced to close the road, with motorists diverted while officers dealt with the incident.

It has now been confirmed that five people were hospitalised following the two-vehicle smash.

The casualties have received treatment, Police Scotland told Lanarkshire Live.

And the two cars involved in the collision were recovered from the scene later last night.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 3.25pm on Monday, December 20 , emergency services received a report of a road crash involving two cars on the A726 near Chapelton.

"Five people were taken to hospital for treatment and the vehicles were recovered around 6pm.”
