FAI paid former CEO John Delaney €462,000 in settlement

John Delaney received €462,000 in a settlement from the Football Association of Ireland after leaving the association.

Accounts published by the FAI today show they paid Delaney €90,000 payment in lieu and €372,000 in contribution to former CEO and Director Pension fund.

The shocking figures also show that the association have current liabilities of over €55million.

FAI executive lead Paul Cooke said the FAI are in the very advanced stages of re-financing but was unable to provide details.

The report also stated that the FAI may not to continue as a going concern.

Part of it read: "While the company has received some advanced funding from UEFA during 2019 to enable the company to meet some of its current liabilities there is not sufficient audit evidence that the company will be able to meet its liabilities as they fall due.

"Therefore we are unable to obtain sufficient audit evidence to support the assumption that the company will continue as a going concern."
