Facebook employee jumps to his death from office building at Silicon Valley HQ

A Facebook employee has died after jumping from an office building at the Silicon Valley headquarters, according to reports.

The Menlo Park Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a man had jumped off the 4th floor of a building.

The tragedy happened at 11.30am local time.

A Facebook spokeswoman told Business Insider: "We were saddened to learn that one of our employees passed away at our Menlo Park headquarters earlier today.

"We're cooperating with police in their investigation and providing support to employees.

"While the family is being notified, we have no information to share."

In a statement following the tragedy, the City of Menlo Park said: "Preliminary investigation by the Menlo Park Police Department indicates that there is no foul play involved in this apparent suicide.

"The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office responded and transported the victim to the San Mateo County Hospital.

"The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin."
