Everything Everywhere All at Once has picked up its first Oscar this evening, thanks to Ke Huy Quan.
The star sobbed on stage as he made an emotional speech in front of the star-studded audience - telling viewers watching at home to keep their dreams alive.
Quan paid tribute to his mother and brother as he accepted the award - mentioning how his journey began on a boat before going on to live 'the American dream'.
The Banshees of Inisherin had two nods in the Actor in a Supporting Role actor, thanks to Barry Keoghan and Brendan Gleeson both getting nods, with Brian Tyee Henry and Judd Hirsch making up the rest of the nominees.
But the award went to Quan this evening, who had those watching at home sobbing as he made a moving and emotional speech.
The actor received a standing ovation as he took to the stage and hailed “the American dream”.
“My mom is 84 years old and she is at home watching. Ma I just won an Oscar!” he said.
He continued: “My journey started on a boat. I spent a year in a refugee camp and somehow I ended up here on Hollywood’s biggest stage.
“They say stories like this only happen in the movies. I cannot believe this is happening to me – this is the American dream.”
“Thank you so much to the academy for the honour of a lifetime.”
Quan went on to thank his mother, brother and his wife, who he described as “the love of my life”.
He added: “Dreams are something you have to believe in. I almost gave up on mine.
“To all of you out there, please keep your dreams alive. Thank you so much for welcoming me back.”
Viewers watching at home were moved by the speech, with one tweeting: "winning an oscar on ur literal comeback role after 30 years of not acting is the hardest s*** of all time. ke huy quan is a legend asf."
"I'm not crying you're crying...biggest congrats to Ke Huy Quan for his best supporting actor win #Oscars," another added.
A third declared: "Ke Huy Quan's win is not just big for Vietnamese and Asian Americans like me.
It's big for EVERYONE who's been told there is no place for them at the table.
"Mom I just won an Oscar!!"
