BREAKING: Emergency services rush to scene of Lanarkshire road crash

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Lanarkshire.

At least 12 emergency vehicles were seen rushing to the incident on the A726 near Chapelton this afternoon.

Police have closed off the road to motorists at present as drivers are asked to follow diversions put in place.

It is currently unknown if anyone involved has sustained injuries, however emergency services remain at the scene.

Police were called to reports of the crash at 3.25pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Lanarkshire Live : "Police received a report of a road crash involving two cars on the A726 near Chapelton on Monday 20 December, 2021.

"Emergency services are on the scene dealing with the incident and the road is currently closed.

"Motorists are advised to follow diversions."
