A Lanarkshire pensioner has been left with serious injuries after an alleged attack in East Kilbride this morning.
Police taped off a crossing on Calderwood Road, near to Hunter and Maxwellton primary schools, and enquiries are ongoing after the incident.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live: “At around 11.25am were called to a report of a 69-year-old woman being assaulted and seriously injured in Calderwood Road, East Kilbride.
“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where medical staff describe her condition as serious but stable.

“A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing.”
