BREAKING: EK supporters' club banned by Rangers in aftermath of racist social media storm

Rangers have banned a supporters club from attending games indefinitely.

The Ibrox club announced today that their investigation into a video showing fans chanting racial slurs is now complete and individuals have been identified.

It comes after Lanarkshire Live revealed one man involved in the shocking incident sent a message of apology to his supporters club based in East Kilbride.

It is understood the vile chants took place on a supporters' bus which set off from the town yesterday prior to Rangers' Scottish Premiership clash with Ross County in Dingwall.

The slurs were aimed at Celtic's Japanese player Kyogo Furuhashi.

The message appeared in a Whatsapp group titled 'Westwood RSC' (Lanarkshire Live)

In the video, fans can be heard singing "Furuhashi ate my dog, ate my dog" as they repeat the chant over and over.

In another clip, captioned "lets all do the Kyogo," a number of men are seen pulling their eyes to the side during continuous chants of "lets all do Kyogo nananana".

The footage has been viewed over 380,000 times on Twitter and since been brought to the attention of both clubs Celtic and Rangers who have condemned the abuse.

Rangers have now taken action on the matter.

And a club statement reads: "Rangers can confirm that an investigation is now complete in regard to a video circulating on social media yesterday.

"The individuals involved have been identified and will be banned indefinitely from all Rangers games.

"Furthermore, the RSC of which they were members and travelled with to the game, have been banned from receiving tickets for future fixtures."

Meanwhile Police Scotland have confirmed they are working with Rangers to investigate.

A spokesperson from the force told us: "Police Scotland is aware of a video circulating on social media and officers are liaising with the club to make relevant enquiries."
