BREAKING: Dumfries and Galloway confirmed coronavirus cases for March 24

Dumfries and Galloway now has 26 coronavirus cases.

It's an increase of eight on Monday's total of 18.

Scotland now has 584 of cases - compared to 499 on Monday - with 16 people having died.

Last night, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced tough new measures in a bid to stop the spread of the disease.

People should now only leave the house to buy essential items, for medical reasons, for necessary work that cannot be carried out at home or for one exercise per day.

Social gatherings are being cancelled and shops selling non-essential items have to shut
