BREAKING: Dumfries and Galloway confirmed coronavirus case numbers for May 4

A handful of new coronavirus cases have been confirmed over the weekend.

The latest figures released today showed that 250 people in the region had so far tested positive, up by just four from Thursday. There has been no increase on Sunday's figures.

As of midnight, 21 were in hospital, up from 18 on Sunday.

Nationally, 12,226 people have tested positive for Covid-19, an increase of 169 from Sunday. 49,430 have tested negative.

There are 1,720 people in hospital – up 54 – while the number in intensive care remains at 99.

Since March 5, 2780 people have been discharged from hospital.

The national death toll is 1,576 after five more people died, although First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned the low increase is likely down to the weekend.
