BREAKING: Dumfries and Galloway confirmed coronavirus case numbers for April 9

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Dumfries and Galloway now stands at 163.

The latest numbers show a further eight positive test results in the past 24 hours, increasing Wednesday's figure of 155.

As of midnight, 40 in Dumfries and Galloway were in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus with nine in intensive care.

Across Scotland, 4,957 people have tested positive - an increase of 392 from Wednesday. 27,518 tests have so far been carried out and 22,561 people have tested negative.

There are 1,781 people in hospital with 212 in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours, a further 81 people have died where coronavirus was thought to be the main or contributing factor, the Scottish figure now at 447.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway revealed yesterday that 17 people in the region had died from coronavirus.

The coronavirus lockdown restrictions are expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future.
