Breaking Dublin news as 66 cloned credit cards seized and two men charged by gardai following massive haul

Two men have been charged over the seizure of 66 cloned credit cards in Dublin following a massive intelligence operation by Gardai.

In a huge haul by investigating officers, Gardai seized the fraudulent cards along with documents, re-encoding devices, cocaine, a weighing scales and €2,000 in cash.

Gardai received reports from the UK that a group were using card reading devices to clone credit cards in Ireland.

On Thursday, two men believed to be involved in the activity were approached by investigating officers on Bedford Lane.

 

Both men in their 30s were arrested after their respective wallets were found to have 12 cloned fraudulent cards inside.

A BMW SUV was then searched in a follow-up operation where a further 13 fake cards were seized along with expensive designer clothes and receipts for other good believed to be bought with the fake cards in Dublin city.

Subsequent searches were carried out in Tyrellstown, the Navan Road and Prussia Street which uncovered 41 fraudulent bank cards.

 

As well as this, documents, re-encoding devices, cocaine, a weighing scales and €2,000 in cash were discovered.

As a result, one man appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday and was remanded in custody while the second man appeared in court on Saturday.

In total, 66 fraudulent credit cards were seized with the investigation set to continue with the assistance from specialist Garda national units together with Europol and other European Police forces.
