Breaking down the top 3 prospects in every round of the 2021 NFL draft for the Steelers

We aren’t even sure if there will be a 2020 college football season but you can bet the NFL will still push forward with the 2021 NFL draft. It means the more information you can gather now about the prospects the better because there might be no 2020 film on them. This doesn’t even take into account players who could choose to opt out of the season.

So what we’ve done is broken down three of the best options for the Pittsburgh Steelers in each round of the 2021 NFL draft based on the rankings at The Draft Network. These rankings are fluid and we will update them regularly to keep Steelers fans up to speed on who some of the best guys for Pittsburgh to consider.

First round

Early in the draft, the Steelers need to address one of the key positions they stand to lose a top-tier talent via free agency.

DL-Jaylen Twyman | Pittsburgh

EDGE-Quincy Roche | Miami

WR-Jaylen Waddle | Alabama

Second round

Seeing Jalen Mayfield on this list just illustrates how deep the offensive line class is but don’t rule out a guy like Jay Tufele if the Steelers are still missing Javon Hargrave.

DT-Jay Tufele | USC

RB-Master Teague | Ohio State

If the Steelers aren’t happy with draft, this is a great round to help that at running back, quarterback and cornerback with multiple excellent sleeper prospects.

RB-Chuba Hubbard | Ohio State

QB-Brock Purdy | Iowa State

CB-Kary Vincent Jr. | LSU

Fourth round

At this point, prospects are high upside types who need not only the right scheme fit but a franchise with the time to let their skills develop.

QB-Tanner Morgan | Minnesota

CB-Elijah Molden | Washington

EDGE-Daelin Hayes | Notre Dame

Fifth round

Jamar Watson and Marquez Stevenson were interesting names to pop up this late. I think by next year they will both be much better prospects but or now they would be steals in the fifth round with their athletic gifts.

EDGE-Jamar Watson | Kentucky

OT-Landon Dickerson | Alabama

WR-Marquez Stevenson | Houston

You always hope this late in the draft a player with some questions but great talent and Chauncey Golston and Trey Sermon sermon fit the bill.

EDGE-Chauncey Golston | Iowa

DL-Phidarian Mathis | Alabama

RB-Trey Sermon | Ohio State

Steelers fans will recognize the name Jahan Dotson here but keep an eye on the athletic D’Eriq King this season as well.

OT-Abraham Lewis | Washington State

WR-Jahan Dotson | Penn State

QB-D’Eriq King | Miami
