Breaking down the Steelers’ picks in a new 7-round mock draft

Our friends over at Draft Wire have put out a new seven-round mock draft with just over two weeks to the 2019 NFL draft. We dug into all 10 picks by the Pittsburgh Steelers and here’s how they broke down.

First round

Greedy Williams | Cornerback | LSU

Second round

Blake Cashman | Linebacker | Minnesota

Third round

Parris Campbell | Wide receiver | Ohio State

Third round

Foster Moreau | Tight end | LSU

Fourth round

D’Andre Walker | EDGE | Georgia

Fifth round

Rodney Anderson | RB | Oklahoma

Sixth round

Daylon Mack | DL | Texas A&M

Sixth round

Garrett Brumfield | OL | LSU

Sixth round

Marvell Tell III | S | USC

Seventh round

Stanley Morgan, Jr. | WR | Nebraska

Here’s our breakdown of the best and worst of the whole thing:

Best pick-Greedy Williams

If the Steelers are going to spend their first-round pick on a cornerback, let it be the one guy with elite NFL size and lots of experience.

Worst pick-Foster Moreau

With significant needs at outside linebacker and wide receiver, drafting a tight end here doesn’t make much sense.

Biggest reach-Parris Campbell

The triangle numbers for Parris Campbell are tremendous but they don’t match up with the production.

Biggest steal-Daylon Mack

Not many teams value a pure nose tackle but Mack would be welcome on the defensive front.

Biggest miss-Not drafting an edge rusher until the fourth round

Pittsburgh should dedicate a day one or two pick to a pass-rushing outside linebacker. Waiting until the fourth means it isn’t likely to be a guy who has an impact in 2019.
