Free agency is going to be huge for the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. Not just for the guys who Pittsburgh may or may not be bringing in but locking up their own free-agent class as well. We decided to take a quick look at the eight restricted free agents Pittsburgh have and decide if they need to be signed or let leave.
B.J. Finney | Center | RFA
If the Steelers don’t give Ramon Foster a new contract, keeping B.J. Finney is a high priority. Pittsburgh will lose Finney if they don’t offer at least a mid-level tender.
Xavier Grimble | Tight end | RFA
Grimble has been the “other” tight end on the Steelers roster for the past three seasons. He does whatever is asked of him and works hard every week. The Steelers should give him a minimum tender.
Mike Hilton | Cornerback | ERFA
Two seasons ago Mike Hilton looked like the best slot cornerback in the league. Last season he took a slight step back. Nevertheless, Pittsburgh needs to keep him for 2019 and get him back to form.
Matt Feiler | Offensive tackle | ERFA
Not only should the Steelers sign offensive tackle Matt Feiler to a tender, they need to give him a full-blown contract extension and make sure he doesn’t go anywhere. Feiler was a start filling in at right tackle and Pittsburgh cannot let him leave.
Jake McGee | Tight end | ERFA
McGree spent last season on IR but could get an offer just to see if he can really be the blocker he’s advertised as.
Keith Kelsey | Linebacker | ERFA
Kelsey was a very productive college linebacker but hasn’t gotten a shot with Pittsburgh. The Steelers could give him a low tender just to keep him around until they see what they have.
Malik Golden | Safety | ERFA
It feels like Malik Golden could be a pretty good player but can’t stay healthy long enough to find out. Will Pittsburgh keep him another season to find out?
Keion Adams | Linebacker | ERFA
We sort of expected Keion Adams to get some reps at outside linebacker last season. With Anthony Chickillo a UFA, getting Adams back under contract makes sense.
