Breaking down the Chiefs offensive tackle options

The Chiefs made news on Thursday morning when they would be releasing their starting offensive tackles from last season, Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, in an effort to create cap space. The release of those two were a little surprising, especially with how the Chiefs got crushed by the Bucs’ pass rush in the Super Bowl, but they aren’t completely illogical moves.

First, the Chiefs needed cap space. Prior to the release of Fisher and Schwartz, the Chiefs were more than $20 million over the cap according to Spotrac. Now, they’re $4.3 million over the cap.

Like most teams this offseason, the Chiefs won’t have too much spending cash to get their offensive tackle situation under control.

Here are a few of their options.
