Breaking down Carson Wentz’s record-setting contract by the numbers

The actual numbers are in for Carson Wentz new four-year, $128 million deal, that included $107 million total in guarantees. The details of the deal are in per Field Yates of ESPN.com, and it’s not your typical deal.

With incentives, Wentz’ deal could reach the total value to more than $153 million, and it also includes a 2020 option year that will add $30 million to his $1.383 million base salary in 2020, making his total base salary for 2020, $31 million.

The option year for 2020 is seen as a given according to Yates and should view more as semantics rather than the Eagles considering moving on from Wentz.

According to Yates, the deal includes a $16 million signing bonus, the $31 million option the Eagles will exercise in 2020, $3.9 million in 2021, $18.5 million in 2022, $18 million in 2023 and $21 million in 2024.
