Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar has died.
The actor known as the 'Tragedy King' died Wednesday in a Mumbai hospital after a prolonged illness at the age of 98.
Dilip was admitted to the Hinduja hospital in Mumbai city on 30 June after he complained of breathing issues.
His death was announced on Twitter by Faisal Farooqui, a family friend, via the actor’s Twitter account.
“With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago,” he wrote. “We are from God and to Him we return,” he penned.
Dilip's death comes after his brother passed away from Covid-19 last year.

He was one of Bollywood's earliest Method actors for his expressive performances identifying a character's emotions.
Dilip - born Muhammad Yusuf Khan, a Muslim - was from Peshawar, in what became Pakistan after Partition.
He changed his name when he became a Bollywood star in 1944 after winning a role in Jwar Bhata (Sea Tides).
Dilip had an impressive career over six decades with over 60 films.
Following the news breaking, fans have taken to social media to share their sadness at the loss.
TV presenter Adil Ray typed on Twitter: "Dilip Kumar, a legend of Indian cinema passes away. An incredible human being. He was born Mohammed Yusuf Khan in what is now Pakistan but changed his name to an Indian one to perform. He never stopped trying to bring communities together. Thoughts with his friends & family."

Actor Ranvir Shorey wrote: "An inspiration to Indian actors for generations. The legend has moved on. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti. #respect #DilipKumar."
Ravi Teja added: "Dilip Kumar ji has left an indelible mark on world cinema. The greatest actor to ever grace the silver screen. His charm and versatility is unparalleled. Legends live forever! Rest in peace sir."
Dilip is survived by his wife and fellow veteran film actor Saira Banu.
