Dayton gunman Connor Betts' sister and her boyfriend 'shot dead' in massacre

The sister of a man who killed nine people in Ohio last night was found fatally shot next to her dead boyfriend.

Megan Betts was one of the victims of Connor Betts' rampage yesterday, police officials confirmed this afternoon.

Her boyfriend is also believed to have been killed.

Connor and Megan are the only two children of Stephen and Moira Betts of Bellbrook, Ohio, around 15 miles from downtown Dayton.

Megan, 22, was due to start her senior year at Wright State University's Department of Biological Sciences.

Police announced that the others victims were Lois Oglesby, 27, Saeed Saleh, 38, Derek Fudge, 57, Logan Turner, 30, Nicholas Cummur, 25, Thomas McNichols, 25, Beatrice Warren Curtis, 36, and Monica Burkhouse, 39.

Six of the victims are black and three are white.

Joe Oglesby, the uncle of Lois Oglesby, said he felt “numb”, the Washington Post reported.

Oglesby said his 29-year-old niece had just had a baby last month and had an older child.

“She was a nurse’s aide and a very devoted mother,” he said.

Authorities believe that Connor Betts opened fire on a crowd at a bar in Dayton’s Oregon District, killing nine people and wounding dozens more.

He was then shot dead by offices, despite wearing body armour.

Mayor Nan Whaley said if police had not got to the scene within seconds "hundreds" could have been killed.

A witness said he heard at least 50 shots an saw people "trampling over each other", while another man said being five feet away from the shooter was the "scariest moment of his life".

It came just hours after 21 people were shot dead in a Wal Mart in El Paso, Texas, in a suspected 'anti-Mexican' attack and the eight worst mass shooting in US history.
