Danish Prime Minister to announce gradual lifting of coronavirus lockdown measures

Denmark is about to gradually lift its coronavirus lockdown, it is understood.

Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister, shut down the country around three weeks ago in an to attempt to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Local media say the leader is ready to begin small stages of reducing measures, similar to those in place in the UK.

"When we open our society again, we have to do it gradually and we have to make it staggered," the prime minister said.

“For example, we may have to work, educate and attend school at different times of the day.

"We have to distribute over the hours of the day, we must prevent rush hour in public transport, and when we go to work it has to be in a different way than we are used to. "

More than 4,000 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Denmark.

Among these, 161 have died, 1,283 recovered and 507 are in hospital, including 142 in intensive care.

The first case there was recorded on February 27.

But in the UK, lockdown exercise could be banned because of coronavirus rebels breaking the rules, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has warned.

The Cabinet Minister threatened to stop people going out for a walk as he blasted people for sunbathing on the warmest weekend of the year so far.

Councils have been forced to shut parks after Britons exploited the fine weather to hit hotspots as the mercury rose to 21C.
