Dani Ceballos completes Arsenal loan deal for second straight season

Dani Ceballos has returned to Arsenal on loan after Real Madrid sanctioned another season-long loan deal in north London.

The Spaniard moved to the Emirates last summer under Unai Emery with the Gunners fighting off competition for his services.

Arteta replaced his compatriot in December but was impressed by Ceballos enough to pursue another loan deal.

The 24-year-old made over 30 appearances for Arsenal last term, scoring twice including a crucial late winner in their FA Cup quarter final against Sheffield United.

“Dani was and integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form," said Arteta.

"I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player. We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”

The club's technical director Edu was also thrilled to have the Spanish international return to the Emirates, where he will once again wear the No 8 shirt.

He said: “We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season.

"We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.

"We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”

Arteta has enjoyed a productive first summer transfer window as Arsenal boss.

Optimism is growing on the red half of north London after the Gunners won the Community Shield last week.

Gabriel Magalhães was signed from Lille last week in what was a major coup for the Gunners.

William Saliba, who was signed last summer but loan back to Saint Etienne, will also be available for selection.

Willian has moved on a free from Chelsea while confidence is growing that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new contract amid months of uncertainty.
