But while many fans thought that Chelsea may then ease their way into the final, Frankfurt had other ideas, with Luka Jovic drawing the German side level early in the second half.

As a result, the game went into extra time, as the two sides continued to fight for the right to meet the Gunners in Baku, after Arsenal had confirmed their place with a 4-2 win at Valencia, going through 7-3 on aggregate against the Spanish side.

Neither side could find a winner in extra time either, so the game went to penalties.
But Chelsea won the shootout, with Kepa Arrizabalaga making two saves for Chelsea, with Eden Hazard netting the winning penalty.
