Chelsea transfer ban: Court of Arbitration for Sport confirm hearing date for appeal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport have confirmed that Chelsea's appeal against their two-window transfer ban will be heard on Wednesday, November 20.

The Blues were slapped with the ban by FIFA after it was found that they had broken rules regarding the signing of young players.

Chelsea's appeal to FIFA was thrown out, but the Blues took the decision to CAS and have been awaiting a date for when the appeal would be heard.

CAS have today (November 4) confirmed that the hearing in their headquarters in Lausanne will be heard on November 20.

With the Blues having already seen through one of their transfer windows, the Blues are now hoping that it will be reduced to just one window so that they will be allowed to bring in new players in January, should Frank Lampard and the club wish to do so.

FIFA released their reasoning for why they upheld the decision, with their disciplinary and appeal committees stating that Chelsea violated 150 rules protecting minors from trafficking.

The committee also judged that the Blues broke rules prohibiting third-party influence on players, in which they imposed a fine of £470,000.

But now the Blues will learn their fate in the hope to have the ban reduced to just one window.
