Car passenger stabbed after 'road rage' dispute on M5 motorway slipway

A passenger was stabbed last night after a road rage dispute with the driver of another vehicle.

Police were called to the southbound M5 slipway at 10.10pm to reports of a 26-year-old man having been knifed.

In a statement Avon and Somerset Police said: "The victim was a passenger in a car which had just exited the M5 at this junction and was at a set of traffic lights.

"A dispute then ensued with the driver of another car, following which the victim was stabbed.

"The offender was in a dark coloured car and we’re making urgent enquiries to locate this vehicle.

"One lane of the slip road remains closed so we can carry out a further examination of the scene."

The victim is in hospital and his injuries are not considered life threatening.  The condition of the driver of the car is not known.

Anyone with information about the road rage attack is urged to contact police on 101.
