British boy, 13, dies after plunging six floors from terrace in Spain

A 13-year-old British boy has died after plunging from the sixth floor of an apartment block on holiday.

Paramedics in Fuengirola, Costa del Sol in Spain, tried to revive the youngster.

But they were unable to do anything to save his life yesterday.

The teenager's heartbroken mum was reportedly with him when he tumbled from a terrace into an internal patio.

The tragedy happened around 1.30pm local time yesterday.

Local reports suggested the people who had raised the alarm believed it was an “accidental fall.”

Well-placed sources confirmed the youngster was on holiday.

“We are offering support to the family of a British child who has died in Fuengirola,” said a Foreign Office spokesman.

“Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time and Foreign Office staff are in contact with the Spanish police.”

A routine investigation is underway.

Fuengirola is a popular tourist destination in Spain. Just west from Malaga, it boasts miles of sandy beaches.

It is also a historic town, with origins in Roman, Arab and Phoenician civilisations.
