Brit soldier falls to death from seventh floor of Warsaw hotel during party

A British soldier has plunged to his death from a seventh floor hotel room in Poland.

The soldier, 25, was reportedly partying in the room in Warsaw when he fell to his death at around 3am today.

The British troops are based in the hotel as part of the NATO operation Battle Group Poland, which is intended to counter Russian aggression.

There were booze-fuelled party involved 'several dozen' people, it is claimed.

Pictures of the hotel, in the Wola district of Warsaw, appear to show a terrace on the seventh floor.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman told The Mirror: “We can confirm that an incident has occurred in Warsaw on 01 August in which a service person from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers has died.

"The serviceperson’s family have been informed. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends at this sad time.

“An investigation by the Polish police supported by the Royal Military Police is underway into the incident, therefore it is inappropriate to comment further.”

British Military Police and their Polish counterparts are investigating the death, along with the Military Prosecutor's Office in Poland.

The death is being treated as an accident, according to The Sun .

The prosecutor's office told the newspaper: "Some of them participated in a meeting at which alcohol was consumed.

"During the meeting, one of the soldiers fell out of the seventh floor of the building as a result of which he died on the spot."
