Breaking: Bristol City turn to new targets with Bobby Reid set for Fulham if he leaves Cardiff City

Bobby Reid will not be returning to Bristol City today, with Fulham his destination should Cardiff City sanction the sale of the forward.

Bristol Live understands that any chances the Robins had in bringing the 26-year-old back to Ashton Gate have evaporated primarily due to Fulham's interest.

Sources close to the player have indicated that Reid was open to pulling on a City shirt again having signed for Cardiff 12 months ago, but the lure of west London and personal circumstances means he is likely to head there.

The Bristolian remains close with former City left-back Joe Bryan and his older sister Marsha de Cordova is Labour MP for Battersea.

The prospect of Reid playing for Fulham still hinges on Cardiff agreeing to his departure having invested £10m in the forward last summer but with mixed returns on that considerable financial pledge.

Reid, who has three years remaining on his Bluebirds contract, started just 16 Premier League games and there has been a feeling that manager Neil Warnock never fully trusted him as a starter.

Warnock's stance was expected to have softened following Cardiff's relegation to the Championship, with Reid having scored 19 goals in the second tier to earn his move to Wales, but the impending arrival of Isaac Vassell from Birmingham further complicates his situation.

Should they complete the purchase of Reid, Fulham are equipped with a wealth of attacking options including summer signings Anthony Knockaert and Ivan Cavaleiro plus top scorer Aleksandar Mirtrovic and strikers Floyd Ayite and Aboubakar Kamara.
