Boy, 9, suffers life changing injuries after shirtless biker hits him and flees

A nine-year-old boy has suffered life changing injuries after being hit by a shirtless biker who then fled the scene.

The boy was seriously injured in the hit-and-run in the Rosmead playing field in the Southcoates area of Hull.

Police said he was taken to hospital with "serious and life-changing injuries."

Humberside Police said they are searching for a motorcycle rider who was riding off-road and not wearing a helmet or a shirt, reports Hull Live.

A helicopter has taken to the skies over Hull as police launch a massive search for the man riding a bike described as 'red or orange.'

The force said: "Police are in attendance at a collision between a motorcycle and a nine-year-old boy.

"It is reported that a motorbike, being ridden off-road on Rosemead Park near Southcoates Lane in Hull, was in collision with the boy who was a pedestrian at around 12 noon today.

"The boy has sustained serious and life-changing injuries in the collision and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"The rider of the bike, who was said to be riding without a helmet or shirt, did not stop and left the scene of the collision."

One witness said: “There was roughly 8 to 10 police officers near the hang out shelter at the back of the park where I presume the incident happened.

“The lock on the gates had to be cut so the ambulance could gain access, the area was then taped off and the ambulance left with a police escort and blues and twos on, 6 to 7 police officers remain at the scene.

“It looks like it was just near the underpass of Southcoates flyover.”

Roads Policing Inspector Heather Cawson added: “We are urgently trying to find the rider and the bike involved in this collision.

"I want the help of the public to tell me who was riding this bike and where they are now.

"The bike was described as a red/orange motorcycle and the rider was not wearing a shirt or a helmet.

“Anyone with any information should call our 101 number and quote log 171 of 25 May 2020.”
