A 14-year-old boy is in hospital after a horrific school stabbing in south Manchester.
Emergency services rushed to the incident at Manchester Academy in Moss Side at around 9.40am on Thursday morning.
The Manchester Evening News understands the offender walked into the secondary school and stabbed the victim in the neck in front of teachers and classmates sitting an exam.

The boy was rushed to hospital where his injuries are understood to be serious but not life-threatening.
A 13-year-old male pupil was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article, GMP said.
Two other boys aged 13 and 12 were also arrested on suspicion of assault.
The M.E.N understands the offender was heard to say that he wanted to 'kill' the victim during the shocking attack.
Police say that their investigation is ongoing and that officers will remain in the school to offer reassurance.
Manchester Academy, part of the United Learning Group, says the boy is now recovering at home after receiving stitches for a facial injury.
A spokesperson said ‘We are shocked by this incident and our thoughts are with the victim and his family. We would like to praise the reaction of staff and other students who witnessed the incident and who acted responsibly and appropriately at the time.
"The calm maturity of the students and the professional response of staff demonstrated the values of Manchester Academy.
"The school day continued as normal and students were spoken to, in case any of them felt anxious by what happened."
A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 9.40am this morning (2 December) to a report of a stabbing at Manchester Academy, Moss East Lane, Manchester.
"Emergency services attended and a 14-year-old male pupil was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
"A 13-year-old male pupil was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Assault and possession of a bladed article."
"Two further males, aged 13 and 12, have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. They remain in custody for questioning.
"Enquiries are ongoing and officers will remain at the school to offer reassurance to pupils and staff.
