Body of man pulled from lake after he went swimming with friends during heatwave

The body of a man was found in a lake after he went swimming during the heatwave.

The tragic discovery was made yesterday following reports of a man in Pickmere Lake, Knutsford, Cheshire.

It is understood the man had been with friends and was swimming, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Police believe he is a 38-year-old man from Widnes.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident and were said to be there for a number of hours.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Searches were made by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police Under Water Search Unit who located the body of a man at 8.24pm.

"The body is believed to be that of a 38-year-old man from Widnes.

"It is believed there are no suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A spokesman for Wincham Parish Council said: "It is with deep sadness that we have to let you know that last night a young man lost his life at Pickmere Lake.

"All our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

"Many thanks to all the emergency and rescue services who worked so hard."
