A body has been found in the search for a young nurse who vanished after leaving work in her scrubs at 1am.
Laurie Jones, 23, was last seen leaving University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff in the early hours yesterday.
Hours later a body was found in the search for her, but the identity has not confirmed.
Laurie's heartbroken family desperately shared an appeal to find her after she never came home.
But Gwent Police has confirmed a body was found in a car in a river yesterday at around 1pm near rural Wyllie, South Wales.
This is around two miles from Pontllanfraith, where Laurie lived.
A spokesman said: "At around 1pm on Tuesday a car was found in the river near to B4251 in Wyllie.
"Following investigations by officers, the body of a deceased woman was sadly discovered inside the vehicle."
Although the body has not been formally identified, Laurie's grief-stricken sister Esme posted on Facebook : "Thank you for all the shares not the best news unfortunately."
She has received a flood of emotional messages of support, including some from strangers.
"The loss of a beautiful girl just starting her career as a nurse how unfair this world can be," wrote one friend.
Friend Sophie Ellen Grace posted: "I feel privileged to have known Laurie and call her my friend! I have so many lovely memories to treasure.
"She was the nicest, most kind hearted person I have ever met. And she always talked so lovingly about her family. She will be sorely missed!"
Natalie Woodland posted: "Laurie was a lovely girl and will be a massive loss to A&E. No words."
Former colleague Bex Rycraft wrote: "I got the pleasure of working with Laurie in A+E at Stoke. She truly was an amazing nurse and so kind hearted inside and out. She will be missed."
And another said: "I worked in UHW for many years , such wonderful staff there... I can’t even imagine what you as a family are going through... I have no words..."
Prior to her role in Cardiff, Laurie worked for the NHS in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, it is believed.
She studied Child Nursing in Bucks New University in the town, according to her Facebook page.
