Asda has announced it is restricting all customers to buying up to three items on all food, toiletries and cleaning products amid a surge in demand following the coronavirus outbreak.
The supermarket chain also said it will close its cafés and pizza counters to free space and staff in order to help keep shelves fully stocked during the pandemic.
The retailer has temporarily reduced the opening hours of all 24-hour stores, which will now will be closed between 12am and 6am each day for re-stocking.
It comes after Sainsbury's boss Mike Coupe said the supermarket will be setting a limit of five units per customer on a small number of products such as hand wash, toilet rolls and cleaners from Wednesday.

It has announced an hour-long shopping slot only for elderly and vulnerable customers, which will allow them to get their shopping more safely, in a less crowded store.
All Sainsbury's stores will open to these groups only for the first hour of trading on Thursday, March 19.
The shops will stay open for an extra hour into the evening, to ensure all customers are able to do their shopping.
Sainsbury's has also said customers over 70 and those with a disability will have priority access to online delivery slots from Monday, while the chain expands its "click and collect" service.
As of Wednesday morning, 71 people in the UK have died from the coronavirus so far, with 1,950 people testing positive.
Government authorities have given advice on how to prevent the spread as airlines cancel flights across the world.
