Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland Niles has been called up to the senior England squad by Three-Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
The call up is the 23-year-old's first involvement with the senior squad, and is scheduled to meet up with the rest of the squad next week ahead of the Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark.
The academy graduate has had a memorable day, as well as celebrating his 23rd birthday, he has also lifted the Community Shield with Arsenal, scoring in the penalty shootout along the way and being named man of the match.
Maitland-Niles has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer after struggling for game time since the arrival of Mikel Arteta.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to have seen a bid of £15 million knocked back by the Gunners for the versatile player, with Arsenal looking for a fee of at least £20 million.
The Arsenal man has been called up alongside Wolves defender Conor Coady, who has also received his maiden call.
Maitland-Niles has made an impact on the international stage at youth level, being part of the squad who lifted the U20 World Cup title back in 2017.
He will look to make his Three-Lions debut either against Iceland on Saturday 5, September or vs Denmark on Tuesday, 8 September.
