Arsenal confirm trio of absences for Norwich clash after more positive Covid tests

Arsenal have confirmed that Cedric Soares, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are unavailable for the game against Norwich this afternoon after returning positive Covid-19 tests.

A statement on the club's official twitter account said: "Cedric, Tomiyasu and Maitland-Niles all miss out on today's squad after testing positive with Covid.

"Get well soon lads."

With Calum Chambers already absent following his own bout with the virus, the Gunners now have four of their right-back options missing.

Tomiyasu's absence in particular has caused a bit of worry amongst the Arsenal faithful.

The Japan International has been nothing short of sensational since arriving in England but was forced off the pitch in the 64th minute against Leeds after struggling with an injury.

With most of the Gunners' right-back options out as a result of coronavirus, Mikel Arteta has asked Ben White to step across the defence to fill the void.

Rob Holding comes into the starting line-up to play alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in the centre of defence, whilst Kieran Tierney keeps his position on the left-hand side of the back four.

Aaron Ramsdale returns to play in goal after Bernd Leno stepped into the side in the 5-1 quarter-final win over Sunderland in the Carabao Cup.

The midfield and frontline remains unchanged from Arsenal's win over Leeds United.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey play in the deeper midfield roles leaving space for Martin Odegaard to navigate his way through the Norwich defence, whilst Bukayo Saka, Alexandre Lacazette and Gabriel Martinelli have been trusted with providing the goals for the Gunners.
