Arsenal confirm January transfer deal as defender exits Emirates Stadium

Arsenal youngster Brooke Norton-Cuffy has left the club to join League One side Lincoln City.

The Hale End Academy graduate has signed a loan deal at the LNER Stadium until the end of the campaign having previously been a regular for the Gunners' Under-23 side.

The 18-year-old has made 11 appearances so far this season, testing himself against senior opposition in the Papa John's Trophy versus Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town, whilst he also featured in the Gunners' victory against London rivals Chelsea.

Norton-Cuffy's form was also good enough to see him handed international recognition with three appearances for the England Under-18s in November.

Upon confirmation of his temporary switch, the youngster said: "It's a very proud moment for me, to come from playing Under-23s to a great League One club like this is a big step for me.

"Lincoln are well known for their development of players, especially loan players, and there’s a pathway for me here - getting men’s football will help my development.

"I've been playing Under-23s since my first scholar season and this year I’ve started every game I’ve been fit, so this is a key step for me."

The youngster will hope to enjoy a positive impact in Lincoln, with the Imps currently struggling in League One.

They sit 18th in the standings, having only won two out of their last 10 league games.
