Arsenal confirm Ethan Nwaneri contract amid Chelsea and Man City transfer links

Arsenal have confirmed that starlet Ethan Nwaneri will be staying with the club after including him amongst the list of first-year scholars for the 2023/24 season.

Nwaneri was linked with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in recent months but football.london understands that the talented youngster has also signed a pro contract with the Gunners. The 16-year-old made his first-team debut during a 3-0 victory against Brentford last season.

Aged just 15 years old and 181 days old at the time, he became the youngest ever player to feature in the Premier League, a clear indication of his sky-high potential. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was full of praise for the midfielder after the match against the Bees, claiming that he had a feeling about bringing Nwaneri on the day before the game.

"It was a feeling that I had yesterday, I don’t know why,” Arteta said when asked what went into his decision. “The first day I met him I looked him in his eyes and everyone was telling me about him, Per was telling me about him, and because of the injuries we only have 12 or 13 senior players yesterday to put in the squad and we decided to bring him, and that’s it.

“It’s one step, one experience, so enjoy it and congratulations. "It’s just one step and all the steps in your career are not forward and you have to know that.

"You can go forward then backwards and then forwards. You fall, you go back - that’s, unfortunately, this industry and the football career of any player.”
