Arrest after three car crash shuts major Manchester road

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a three car crash which closed a busy road in north Manchester.

Lightbowne Road in Moston was shut for a time following the smash at 7.50am on Thursday.

Pictures from the scene, close to the junction with Nuthurst Road, show police and paramedics in attendance.

No-one was seriously injured.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called a three-vehicle crash on Lightbowne Road, Moston, at about 7:50am today (18 November) to reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision.

"There were no serious injuries reported but one of the drivers - a male - has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs."

Some bus services were diverted following the road closure.

Stagecoach Manchester tweeted: "Service 117. Road Traffic Accident on Lightbrowne Rd. Police have closed the road.

"We are diverting the 117 via Kenyon Lane, Joyce Street and St Mary's Road in both directions until further notice.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you."
