Arrest after 'man with gun' bangs on door of house

A man 'with a gun' banged of the door of a house in Salford last night, according to reports.

Police were called to the 'disturbance' on Briar Hill Avenue, in Little Hulton, at around 9.55pm.

They said a man, 'possibly with a firearm', was banging on the door of a house.

He had left the scene when police arrived but officers later arrested a 45-year-old man nearby.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and with intent to cause fear of violence.

He remains in custody for questioning, police said.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "A man is in custody after officers were called to a disturbance in Salford.

"Officers were called to Briar Hill Avenue, Little Hulton, at about 9.55pm on Wednesday 19 January 2022 to reports a male, possibly with a firearm, was banging on the door of a property.

"When police arrived, the male had left the scene but officers later arrested a 45-year-old man nearby.

"The man remains in police custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and with intent to cause fear of violence."
