Andre Gray, Domingos Quina and Nathaniel Chalobah dropped by Watford after lockdown party

Watford trio Andre Gray, Domingos Quina and Nathaniel Chalobah were dropped from the Watford squad for their Premier League clash against Southampton on Sunday following striker Gray's lockdown party.

Gray is being investigated over the gathering for around 20 people at the home he shares with Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

It is claimed revellers - including teammate Quina - were seen playing football on an artificial pitch Gray had installed.

Watford hosted the Saints at Vicarage Road - a clash they lost 3-1 to fall further into relegation trouble - and they were without the trio who were all stood down from the 18-man squad.

The club said pre-match: "Andre Gray, Nathaniel Chalobah and Domingos Quina have all been omitted from the squad by Nigel Pearson to ensure the health & safety of all players, staff and officials at today’s game."

The Hornets were beaten by Burnley in midweek, and the party is said to have taken place the following day.

Lockdown and social distancing regulations currently allow six people to meet in a garden, as long as they keep distance.

Gray uploaded posts to his Instagram page suggesting the guidelines hadn't been followed. They have now been deleted.

Watford previously said in a statement: “Watford Football Club is aware of social media posts which suggest two of our players have contravened the Government’s lockdown protocols.

“The club will fully investigate the matter and speak to the players concerned.”

Watford remain in 16th place, one point above the relegation zone, after taking just a single point from three games since the season resumed.
