Amazon make fixtures announcement ahead of Premier League return

Amazon have announced that their TV fixtures for the rest of the 2019/20 season will be free-to-air for all.

Broadcasters are expected to announce their fixtures for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign later today, but Amazon have announced that no Amazon Prime membership will be required to watch their matches.

The Premier League is set to resume on June 17, with all 92 remaining fixtures to be shown live by the league’s four current broadcast partners.

The games will be shown live by the BBC, Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon, with a number of games set to be made available for free.

Premier League gets all-clear but EFL announces 17 positive coronavirus tests

Four top flight games are set to be shown on the BBC for the first time since 1992, while 25 matches – including the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool – will be broadcast by Sky on their free-to-air channel ‘Pick’.

The rest of the games will be doled out between Sky, BT and Amazon, with four of the matches on the latter’s service.

And it has been announced that all four games will be shown for free, with customers not needing an Amazon Prime membership in order to watch the matches.

Amazon began showing Premier League games for the first time this season, with 20 matches broadcast on their Prime streaming service back in December, including all the festive fixtures on Boxing Day and December 27.

The move by Amazon means a total of 33 of the Premier League’s remaining 92 games will now be made available for free.

Alex Green, MD Prime Video Sport Europe, said: “Like the rest of the country, we are excited to see the Premier League return to action.

“We will be making all four of Amazon Prime Video’s additional fixtures in the 2019/20 season available free of charge; fans will not need a Prime membership to view the games on Prime Video.”
