Corrie's Alison King breaks silence on allegations she kissed co-star Mikey North

Alison King has broken her silence on allegations she kissed Mikey North.

The Coronation Street actress, 46, has faced accusations that she and Coronation Street co-star Mikey shared a kiss at last week's National Television Awards.

Now she has said: “I would like to take this opportunity to say that, whilst it was obvious to see that regrettably I did have too much to drink at the National TV Awards, and chose to leave the event early, I did not kiss my co star Mikey North as has been reported.”

Married man Mikey, 33, responded to the reports in a statement for OK!: "I would like to make one thing clear - I did not kiss my co-star Alison King during the recent National Television Awards.

"It is beyond ludicrous to suggest that I would or that I did."

Mikey goes on to say that the "grainy" footage shows him speaking in Alison's ear over the noise of the event, and that the reports have caused him and his family "a great deal of distress."

The Gary Windass actor went on to say that he'd filed a complaint with the Independent Press Standards Organisation over the "baseless gossip."

Alison has been engaged to fiance David Stuckley since last year, while Mikey and wife Rachel welcomed their second child, Eliza, last year.

Alison recently detailed how her hubby-to-be got down on one knee for her, saying: "It was just a few days after our one year anniversary.

"I had an inkling he was going to pop the question because he kept putting something on my finger and going, 'Right, close your eyes and forget this ever happened!'"

Mikey continued: "I have an amazing wife who I adore and, as incredibly supportive as she is, it is unacceptable that she should have to deal with people seeign this kind of baseless gossip on the front page of a newspaper."
